Hosting.
As well as having a website constructed you will also need somewhere to put it up on internet. This is known as "hosting" your site so that it can be seen by your clients etc.
Basically getting your site hosted means renting space on a computer that is always turned on and connected to the internet so that your site can be viewed at any time.
Here are some of the options you have.
- Host through Rainrain.com : (recommended)
With this option you can host through rainrain.com, paying annually or bi-annually and we will arrange all hosting on your behalf.
We use a top quality Irish based hosting company and packages are available to suit most applications, starting from as little as €6 p/m Ex V.A.T.{ based on a single 24 month payment }.
This is the most convenient option as you will not have to concern yourself with the hosting and we will make sure that your site stays on the internet at all times.
We would recommend bundling this together with a maintenance deal which also includes the minor changes you would need to make on a yearly basis, eg. price list, contact details, new photo etc.
Sites hosted with Rainrain.com can have unlimited email addresses - Alternative hosting company :
Rainrain.com will design your website and will then install it on the host of your choice. You only pay for the construction of the website but you yourself are responsible for the website after it first goes live, ie remembering and arranging the yearly payments and all dealings with the host company. Rainrain.com can make recommendations and give some advice regarding choosing a host. - ISP webspace / Free hosting: Your internet service provider, (eg eircom) may give you free webspace.
Often this is a good value option for people on a budget, but remember there is not likely to be the same degree of support if the website becomes unavailable and 100% uptime might be unlikely.
There are also other free hosts available which may be fine for personal pages and certain other applications; however businesses etc. will usually want to avoid the advertisements and slower access times etc. You may also need to purchase your domain name separately.
Your can host your site on one of these servers however you would have to arrange the actual hosting yourself.
NB:Host failure without a backup in place can mean total loss of your website.
